How the Connect Four AI Works
Connect Four was solved in 1988 by James Allen. The first player can always force a win with perfect play starting in the center column. Our engine uses this mathematical solution to evaluate every possible position on the board.
At lower difficulty levels, the engine introduces controlled mistakes so you can practice and improve. At the highest level, it plays the mathematically optimal move every single time, making it unbeatable when it goes first from the center.
Why Practice Against the Computer?
Playing against the AI is the fastest way to improve. You can experiment with openings, test new strategies, and learn from your mistakes without the pressure of a rated match. Take as long as you want on each move. Replay positions. Try different approaches.
The engine is also perfect for warming up before ranked games or studying specific positions you struggled with in past matches.
